Dunskey is well known for its quality Pheasant shooting. The property is divided by a deep glen running down to the sea. Birds are flown over the glen and off the surrounding fells. The natural topography together with a stiff and often stronger sea breeze make for really high and difficult birds.

There are two separate days which are generally run consecutively. Most days during the season are taken up by repeat bookings, but generally it is possible to accommodate newcomers, given enough notice. Teams of 8/9 guns are ideal for the occasion. Bags are between 100-250 depending on the time of year, the weather and of course the standard of shot.

We also have Partridge shooting in September and October. Our partridges are off rough ground as opposed to game crops and tend therefore to fly more like grouse and can be very testing. Rough or mixed days are available later in the season.

Loch Fishing
Dunskey has two fresh-water lochs of about 11 and 5 acres, in which there is an abundance of both Rainbow and Brown Trout.
Both lochs are accessible by Estate roads and are about 2 miles from Portpatrick set in beautiful surroundings.
There are boats on both lochs and a fishing hut on the smaller one, and there will never be more than two boats on the larger loch and generally only one on the smaller one.
Meals and refreshments are available to fishermen at the ‘Seasons Tearoom’ which is located between the two lochs.
Fishing tuition can be arranged if required. The Estate also has self-catering holiday cottages which can be let in conjunction with fishing at certain times of the year.
Sea fishing off the rocks around Portpatrick is said to be good and of course is absolutely free.
